President Donald Trump on Monday called and endorsed Alabama candidate Roy Moore, the Republican Senate hopeful who is facing accusations of sexual misconduct, the White House said.

"The President had a positive call with Judge Roy Moore during which they discussed the state of the Alabama Senate race and the President endorsed Judge Moore's campaign," principal deputy press secretary Raj Shah said in a statement.

Moore has been accused by multiple women of seeking inappropriate relationships with them decades ago when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s. One woman said he assaulted her when she was 14 years old. Moore has denied engaging in any misconduct.
